Tissamaharama is the town we use for most first jeeps. For example, you get shops, a hospital at Debarawewa, and a short run to Palatupana. Kirinda sits closer to the coast and closer to the boom than the Tissa clock tower.
Leave the hotel at 5:30 AM. Then you are in the Palatupana queue before the boom lifts. Block 1 holds one of the highest recorded densities of Sri Lankan leopard. The first two hours are the hunt we actually want. By 9:00 AM the tarmac cooks.
