Block 1 (Palatupana) is the busier gate and the usual first choice for leopard-focused drives. Block 5 is quieter, with a different landscape.

Most first-time visitors should start in Block 1 if the goal is a leopard. Photographers and repeat guests often add Block 5 to avoid the Palatupana queue. We confirm the block the evening before based on water, recent sightings, and how crowded the park is that week.

Yes. Tell us when you book. If Block 1 is gridlocked we will say so and offer Block 5 rather than pretend.
Is Block 5 the same as Lunugamvehera?
Guides sometimes use the names loosely. We mean the quieter Yala visitor block accessed away from the main Palatupana crush — we will name the gate on your confirmation.
