What is the best time of year for a Yala safari?
Yala is open year-round and wildlife is active every season. Dry months (February–July) concentrate animals around waterholes, while the green season offers lush landscapes and fewer crowds. Only extreme flooding may temporarily close certain blocks.
Are your safaris private or shared?
Every Exclusive Yala Safari tour is private — your jeep and driver, exclusively for your group. We do not operate shared or mixed-group safaris.
Will I definitely see a leopard?
Leopard sightings are not guaranteed. Yala is a wild park. Our drivers work Block 1 and Block 5 and stay with a sighting when it is safe and allowed — they do not promise a cat.
How many people fit in a safari jeep?
Our open-top jeeps comfortably seat up to 6 guests with clear viewing for everyone. Larger groups are automatically allocated additional jeeps in our booking system.
What should I wear and bring?
Wear light, breathable clothing in neutral colours (beige, olive, brown). Bring a hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, and binoculars if you have them. Cameras are highly encouraged. Avoid bright colours and strong perfumes.
Is it safe for children?
Yes — safaris are family-friendly. Children must remain seated inside the jeep at all times and follow driver instructions. The park charges nothing for children under 6 and a reduced entrance rate for ages 6–11; on our own packages children under 5 travel free.
Can you pick us up from Ella, Mirissa, or Galle?
Yes. We arrange long-distance transfers from popular tourist hubs including Ella, Mirissa, Weligama, Tangalle, Galle, and Udawalawe. Pricing is calculated by driving distance — enter your hotel address in our booking form for an instant quote.
How do I pay — and how much deposit is required?
Secure your booking with a USD 30 deposit online (card via OnePay) or via WhatsApp. The remaining balance is payable in cash, bank transfer, or card on arrival. Full payment online is also available.
What happens if it rains?
Safaris continue in light rain — it can actually increase animal activity. Our jeeps have sun canopies that provide shelter. Only extreme weather or park closures would require rescheduling, which we handle at no extra charge.
How far in advance should I book?
We recommend 3–5 days ahead, especially December–April and during Sri Lankan holidays. Last-minute bookings are accepted when jeep availability allows — WhatsApp is fastest for same-week requests.
